Certified organic shea nut butter, pressed from the nut of the African shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa). It arrives as a firm, ivory-coloured butter that softens between your fingers and melts at close to body temperature, with the mild, nutty aroma natural shea is known for.
One ingredient, nothing blended in — no oils, waxes, fragrance or preservatives.
The 200g size suits first projects and recipe testing — enough for a small batch of balms, a couple of jars of whipped body butter, or a trial soap batch before you scale up.
Melt gently over low heat or in a double boiler — overheating and fast cooling is what causes shea to turn grainy. Cool it quickly once melted to keep the texture smooth. Many cold process soap recipes use it at around 5–15% of the oil weight, while whipped body butters often run much higher.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and keep the container sealed. Shea softens in warm weather; if it melts and resets it is still usable, though the texture may become grainy.
Intended as a cosmetic and soap-making ingredient. Shea comes from a tree nut, and as with any new skincare ingredient it is worth patch testing before wider use.
